The third training session in Bahrain is almost useless. It's too hot during the day to prepare for qualifying and the race, which will take place in the evening in different conditions and with different settings.
The racers were in no hurry to leave the pits. In the first ten minutes, only the Haas F1 and Hamilton racers left, and gradually the rest joined them.
By Saturday, the trajectory was covered with a layer of used rubber, but there was still not enough grip. The Soft tires worked best, but they maintained a very short distance and required careful piloting. The wind was a big hindrance, especially in turn 11, where many crashed, but without consequences for the cars.
In the middle of the session, Hulkenberg's car stopped on the track. At the exit of the fourth corner, the Sauber's system was activated, preventing the engine from stalling, then it shut down, and Nico could not continue driving. The car had to be evacuated.
Lawson was unhappy that Russell was ahead of him at the last corner. Leclair lost his left mirror on the track – the mechanics replaced it. Russell spun around at the exit of turn 10 and told the engineer that he did not remember such a bad grip at the wheel of Formula 1.
It was as if these problems did not concern the McLaren drivers. Oscar Piastri topped the record with 1:31.646, his teammate Lando Norris showed the second time. Just like the day before, the pace turned out to be average. Let's see what the balance of power will be in qualifying when the speeds increase. McLaren has never had a pole position in Bahrain before.
