WEC: The Genesis team presented the design of its hypercar
Genesis Magma Racing, the factory team of the Korean Hyundai concern, is preparing to make its debut in the highest category of the World Endurance Racing Championship, and ahead of the upcoming presentation of its project, which will be held tomorrow at the New York Auto Show, presented the coloring of the future GMR-001 hypercar.
The sports prototype is based on the Oreca chassis, which will be equipped with a V8 hybrid powerplant with two turbines, and the Genesis hypercars will be decorated in orange and red.
As can be seen from the explanations provided by the Genesis press service, this design embodies both a sense of speed and a pronounced artistic approach: "strength in it is combined with the most subtle elaboration of nuances while dominating the corporate color Magma Orange, which symbolizes the temperament and energy of Korea."
Among other things, hieroglyphs are integrated into the design of the car, which are used in the Korean alphabet and denote the word "magma".
"Today marks an important milestone in the Genesis Magma Racing program," said Cyril Abiteboul, head of the Korean group's factory team. – We present the GMR-001 hypercar, its impressive coloring, as well as the design of our riders' overalls.
We are preparing to make our debut in the WEC in 2026 and in the American IMSA Championship in 2027, and we are not just organizing a racing team - we are creating our racing legacy. Every day we are one step closer to the moment when the potential of Genesis will be realized in the world of motorsport."
This year, the Genesis team is already competing in the European Le Mans series in the LMP2 category and is gaining experience before making its full debut at the WEC. On the first weekend of April in Barcelona, her crew of Jamie Chadwick, Mathis Jaubert and Daniel Junkadella started the season with a victory in their class.
