Malcom Wilson is a candidate for the post of Sulayem's deputy

FIA President Mohammed bin Sulayem has nominated Malcom Wilson for the post of FIA Deputy President for Sport.

The position remains vacant after the resignation of Robert Reed, who resigned from his post due to disagreement with Sulayem's actions. The decision on Wilson's appointment will be taken by a vote of the FIA members at the General Assembly, which will be held in Macau in June.

Malcolm Wilson is a former rally driver. After completing his sports career, he became managing director of M-Sport, which has managed the Ford team in the World Rally Championship since 1997. In 2009, Wilson was awarded the rank of Officer of the British Empire (OBE) for achievements in motorsport.

Mohammed bin Sulayem: "I am pleased to nominate Malcom Wilson for the position of FIA Deputy President for Sport. Malkom has built an outstanding career in the world of motorsport. For more than forty years, he has been competing at the highest level both as a racer and as a technical partner of the teams.

His experience will be invaluable to the FIA and our clubs as we continue to develop grassroots and professional motorsport by innovating in the sport for the benefit of fans, drivers and teams."
