In Madrid, everything is ready for the presentation of the highway project

      On Friday, the Spanish capital will host a presentation of the design of the future Formula 1 track, which is scheduled to host the first race in September 2026. Madrid Mayor Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida confirmed that tomorrow the municipality will issue an official permit for the construction of the city ring, which will mainly be laid on the territory adjacent to the IFEMA sports and concert complex.

      "Tomorrow we are going to issue a license for the construction of a Formula 1 track," Marca newspaper quoted him as saying. "Thus, we continue to move forward and take all necessary steps to invite Formula 1 to Madrid.

      The upcoming race will become a distinctive feature of our city. We should all be really happy about this, except for those people who are always unhappy when something good happens in Madrid. And Formula 1 touring is good!"

      According to Almeida, as soon as the license is issued, construction will begin almost immediately, "because there are people in Madrid who believe in the future and live with hope."

      Presumably, these are the people who will mostly gather at the IFEMA complex tomorrow, where the official presentation of the route, called Madring, will begin at noon. And when the mayor of the Spanish capital speaks of the "eternally dissatisfied," he means a group of municipal deputies, on whose behalf a protest against the construction of a future highway will be sent to the city court.

      These deputies demand that the construction of the highway be frozen, because they believe that such projects are just a waste of the city treasury. Madring's opponents also accuse the mayor's office of not taking into account the inevitable environmental consequences, the opinions of local residents, and generally contradicting the current rules of urban development.
