Stella: The qualification wasn't perfect, but it was good

Any of the McLaren drivers could have won the pole in Miami, the car allowed it, but Max Verstappen won the qualifying. Andrea Stella, the head of the British team, was philosophical about this.

"Definitely, the pace of the car allowed us to occupy the entire first starting row, but we have to perform our tasks better," said Stella. – We need to pilot more carefully, although it is more difficult to achieve this than we think.

Congratulations to Max, he did a very good lap. Oscar didn't manage to improve in the qualifying final – I think he just fell out of the normal rhythm, especially since it's quite difficult to find him on this track.

Everything was going very smoothly for Lando, but only until the last corner – nevertheless, he drove well in the final session and starts tomorrow from a good position. In general, the qualification was not perfect, but not bad.

If we talk about tomorrow's race, then ideally we should try to take the first position away from Verstappen – I promise that we will make an interesting show! But seriously, Max always does a great job, which means we have to do a little better qualifying.

In the race, our car behaves more predictably, and its settings are better suited for Sunday's Grand Prix. The MCL39 is efficient, it is capable of excellent pace, but when the drivers are driving at the limit, there may be small surprises. However, tomorrow's race should be good."
