Zach Brown: You have to pay for suspicion
We wrote that, unhappy with the fact that the FIA did not find any violations in the McLaren cooling system, Red Bull has launched its own investigation and is filming rival cars on a thermal imager in an attempt to find a solution to cool the tires.
Red Bull believes that McLaren is pouring water into its tires to cool them down. In response, McLaren Racing CEO Zach Brown first made a public joke in Miami, drinking from a bottle labeled "water from tires," and then stated that he did not see anything good in such rivalry.
Zach Brown: "Teams have always suspected rivals of violating the rules, but recently one of the teams has been paying much more attention to this than the others.
There are rules – if you are dissatisfied with something, you must file an official protest, disclose the source of the information and deposit a certain amount of money. I think this process should be extended to all kinds of suspicions in order to stop frivolous accusations designed only to attract attention.
If you had to put your suspicions on paper and pay a certain amount of money for their consideration, it would help get rid of the fake accusations that happen in this sport and don't look very athletic.
If someone really sees a problem, then file a protest and put your money out. If it turns out that you are wrong, the money will not be refunded. I think this will largely stop the fake accusations that come from some teams in our sport."
