Montoya: I wouldn't be surprised if Lawson is replaced by Lindblad.
Juan Pablo Montoya won't be surprised if Racing Bulls ends its partnership with Liam Lawson in the middle of the season. The New Zealander still fails to earn points, and in races he continues to lose to Isaac Hajjar, the less experienced debutant of the season.
"To tell you the truth, if Liam doesn't improve, I wouldn't be surprised if Racing Bulls replaces him with Arvid Lindblad at some point," the former Williams and McLaren driver said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper AS. – I wouldn't be surprised at all. Last year, Liam got the green light and proved that he can handle the case quite successfully.
He was given a place at Red Bull Racing, but the situation turned out to be difficult, and I think it was a blow for him, after which he needs serious psychological help."
Arvid Lindblad is another participant in the Red Bull youth program, he is still 17 years old, he competes in Formula 2 this season, and last year he took 4th place in Formula 3, and he already has enough points to receive an FIA super license. He will turn 18 only in August.
"If Lawson doesn't improve quickly, I have no doubt that Red Bull will start looking at someone else, because that's how they work," Montoya continued. – This is Red Bull, and the situation in this team can be compared to what is happening at Alpine right now. If Franco Colapinto does not show good results, there will be a reshuffle again."
