Carlos Sainz to hold demo races in Madrid
Construction of the track has begun in Madrid, which will host the Formula 1 stage in the fall of 2026. Fueling interest in the new race, the promoters of the stage will hold demonstration races on June 7 with the participation of Carlos Sainz.
The Williams racer will drive through the city streets and a section of the new Madring highway behind the wheel of a Formula 1 FW45 car. In addition to Carlos, two other Spanish drivers will participate in the demo races: Jose Maria Marti, who competes in Formula 2, and Formula 3 racer Mari Boy.
Carlos Sainz: "Madrid is my hometown. I grew up in it and started karting. The opportunity to drive around Madrid behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car will be a dream come true. This is a great opportunity for the city to show everyone our potential and willingness to become the best track and the best stage in the Formula 1 calendar!
