Flavio Briatore refutes himself

Flavio Briatore denied his own words from the official Alpine press release, in which he said that Franco Colapinto would lead the team for the next five races, after which Alpine would decide how to proceed.

In Imola, on the Italian Sky Sport F1, Flavio said that the Argentine driver would be given as many races to master behind the wheel as needed.

Flavio Briatore: "It's not that a driver gets three or five races, but that I was disappointed with Duane. I expected more from Jack, but maybe he needs a break.

The team will have to decide how many races Colapinto will run. I read somewhere that he has five races, but we didn't actually set a limit on the number of races for him."

Asked what Franco Colapinto should do to keep his place at Alpine, Briatore said: "Drive fast, don't crash the car and earn points. I expect these three points from him. I don't expect ten points from him, but if he fulfills these three, he will always perform."
