Tsunoda: I am far from understanding the limits of the RB21's capabilities

On Thursday in Monaco, Yuki Tsunoda recalled his accident in qualifying for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing driver explained the departure off the track by saying that he still does not fully understand the RB21 car, and how changing the settings affects its behavior.

Yuki Tsunoda: "Maybe that accident showed how far I was from understanding the limits of the car's capabilities. To be honest, this would not have happened if I had understood the car. Driving a Racing Bulls, this accident would not have happened.

I just attacked harder than I should have. I don't think I've had an accident like this since 2022. I just don't have enough understanding of how the car behaves with certain settings.

I went to that attempt with completely new settings, and the behavior of the car changed more than I expected. At Racing Bulls, when I changed the settings, the behavior of the car didn't change that much."

Yuki added that due to the accident, Red Bull Racing does not have the right amount of new products, so in the coming races his car will be different from that of team-mate Max Verstappen.

"After what happened in Imola, I do not know how the various components of the car will be distributed," continued Tsunoda. – I don't think that I will have a car completely of the same specification as Max's. Anyway, I'm falling behind, but it's my fault. I think it will be some time before I have exactly the same car as him."
