Pierre Gasly cautioned for collision with Tsunoda
On the seventh lap of the Monaco Grand Prix, Pierre Gasly crashed into Yuki Tsunoda on braking in front of shikana at the exit of the tunnel. For the Alpine racer, the race ended there, and Tsunoda was able to continue the fight.
After the finish, both riders were called to the stewards, who reviewed all the circumstances of the incident. Gasly, along with a team representative, insisted that Tsunoda shifted on braking before the tenth turn and left insufficient space between himself and the edge of the track, which led to the collision.
The stewards examined the recordings of Yuki Tsunoda's previous laps and concluded that at the time of the collision, the Red Bull Racing driver was following almost the same trajectory as on previous laps.
The stewards concluded that Pierre Gasly was wholly or predominantly responsible for the collision, but since there were no obvious consequences for Yuki Tsunoda and Gasly got off, the stewards decided to limit themselves to a racing warning to the Alpine rider, which was his first of the season.
