Oscar Piastri: We were trying to change something.

Oscar Piastri started and finished third in Monaco and believes that two mandatory pit stops did not change anything.…

Q: Oscar, good performance. Did the race go about as you expected?Oscar Piastri: Yes. Almost exactly as I expected. There seemed to be a lot going on behind us, but in the positions where I was, everything turned out exactly as I expected.

Compared to last year, the pace of the race was slightly higher, and everything looked a little brighter from the cockpit. We don't attack with all our might in the race, but some moments this year were more intense.

Q: Were you more satisfied with the car during the race than you were during the weekend?Oscar Piastri: Everything was fine, but in a race you don't push the car to the limit. I was quite happy with her in qualifying, and in the end we achieved our goal.

It was difficult to get into a rhythm before qualifying. And in the race, you're just paying the price for not being able to drive cleanly in qualifying. On Saturday, every lap was difficult, and on Sunday we tried to make some changes to get above third place, but it didn't work out.

Question: What do you think about the two mandatory pit stops?Oscar Piastri: In some moments, this made the race more intense, and we had to attack more actively in order to get out of the range of attack from our rivals in the event of a safety car crash. There were some strategy games behind us, but it didn't affect anything in the leadership group.

Everything would have been completely different if the red flags had appeared five laps before the finish and Max had won. I'm sure if we keep doing this, it will happen one day. Is this what we want to see? I don't know. But it didn't make much difference in the leadership group.

Q: You were called to the pit stop, saying that it was necessary to overtake Charles, but there was a hitch during the maintenance of the car. Do you think if the pit stop had been faster, would you have been able to overtake Charles?Oscar Piastri: I don't think so. I was too far behind. We tried to do something, but I don't think it could have affected the outcome.
