Stella: High-speed turns are not suitable for us
The Barcelona circuit is not suitable for McLaren, but in 2024, Lando Norris finished second, losing only a couple of seconds, and since then his car has clearly improved.…
Andrea Stella, team principal: "We are heading to the Spanish Grand Prix, energized by the success in Monaco, but on the Spanish track we have to solve completely different tasks. Its configuration includes many high-speed turns that do not suit the MCL39. We expect high competition from our rivals and a close fight for victory.
Having left the first third of the season behind, we are leading in both competitions, without losing concentration on our goals. Consistently achieving high results is not easy, so I want to thank everyone at McLaren once again for their work. We are confident in our abilities and we continue to move on."
Oscar Piastri: "I won in Barcelona in the youth series, the configuration of this track combines high-speed straights and technical sections well.
I am happy with the stability of my performances and I am optimistic about going to Spain. The team is doing a great job, and I feel very confident."
Lando Norris: "I feel excited going into the race weekend as the winner of the Monaco Grand Prix. The team and I have been working hard in recent months, we have made progress and we want to consolidate it in the upcoming races.
It's great that the Spanish Grand Prix completes this series of three races in a row. Barcelona is a great city to visit, and the races there are interesting. I'm fine and I'm aiming for a productive weekend."
