"We will keep moving forward"
Ferrari is not yet giving up on the 2025 season. According to the German newspaper TZ, there is a growing divide between a pessimistic Lewis Hamilton and the team based in Maranello regarding the decision to either continue developing the current car or to shift all efforts toward the drastically new 2026 regulations. Team principal Frederic Vasseur believes there is still potential for development in the 2025 car, and Ferrari is currently trailing only McLaren in the constructors' standings. "We’ve made good progress from the significant gap we faced at the start," stated the Frenchman. "But our goal is to win. And McLaren is far too ahead." In fact, the difference between McLaren and Ferrari is an astonishing 197 points—more than Ferrari's total points accumulated thus far. Even worse, Ferrari's expectations that the clampdown on flexible wings would disadvantage McLaren in Barcelona were completely misplaced. "They still undoubtedly have the best car." Nevertheless, with Red Bull also conceding that McLaren is becoming increasingly unattainable, it would seem peculiar for all the other teams to throw in the towel just nine races into a 24-race season. "We will keep progressing with development," Vasseur affirmed. There are rumors of a new suspension system being developed in Maranello. "We don’t want to reveal anything," insisted the 57-year-old. "There are visible updates that need to be communicated, and there are those that remain unseen and should not be disclosed."
