Red Bull staged a fun race on the football field

The Red Bull Racing team brought their RB7, a 2011 car, to the famous Leeds United Football Club stadium, built more than a century ago, to conduct a curious experiment. The point of it was to check who was faster on the football field – the club's players or the Formula 1 car?

The RB7 was piloted by Arvid Lindblad, a Red Bull youth driver competing in F2, and Leeds United was represented by Willy Nyonto, Largy Ramazani and Isaac Schmidt, the club's fastest footballers. Moreover, it was the masters of football who suggested holding such an unusual and fun competition.

Arvid's task was to drive across the grass surface from one penalty area to another and return back, but he was in unusual conditions, especially on slippery grass, and he also had to turn 180 degrees.

They say that the fight was interesting, and the players, of course, ran faster from the start, while the driving wheels of the car on the rain tires skidded. But Lindblad caught up with all three of them already in the opposite penalty area, after which he clearly turned around and eventually won the race.

Arvid Lindblad: "I was a little nervous before this race. I had never ridden on grass and had no idea how it would go. Only Red Bull could have come up with such a thing!

The car is very powerful, and the grip on the grass is poor, so I wasn't sure if I could accelerate and turn around properly. But it was a lot of fun to compete not with racers, but with football players and test yourself!"
