The FIA might give approval to Lindblad for F1 as early as next week.

Although he is only 17, Arvid Lindblad could soon be on the Formula 1 grid, similar to Antonelli.

Red Bull has sent the British-Swedish teenager to compete in New Zealand during the winter to obtain the final points necessary for his F1 super license. The only thing that remains is obtaining special permission from the FIA, as the regulations state that without this exemption, 17-year-olds are not eligible.

"Arvid Lindblad has secured the points needed for the super license, but he won’t turn 18 until September," said Dr. Helmut Marko, Red Bull's F1 advisor. "That’s why we’re in the process of applying for an exemption from the FIA, similar to what (Kimi) Antonelli received."

According to the De Telegraaf newspaper, the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council is set to evaluate Lindblad's license application "next Tuesday." The Dutch publication also mentioned that "Red Bull is preparing for a potential suspension of Max Verstappen."

In fact, just one more penalty point on Verstappen's super license next weekend in Canada could mean that the four-time world champion may have to miss Red Bull’s home race in Austria.

"He must avoid any infractions over the next two race weekends," Marko confirmed to Speed Week, "and of course, he will be advised to stay cautious.

"It would be disastrous if he were unable to compete in Austria. However, we don't foresee that happening, as it's certainly not the case that Max makes mistakes in every race. After the Austria race, the first penalty points will be cleared."

If Verstappen is suspended for a race, it is likely that Red Bull will promote Isack Hadjar from the Racing Bulls team and replace him with Lindblad.

"Arvid Lindblad has shown impressive performances in Formula 2," noted Marko. "He won the main race in Barcelona, celebrating his second victory of his rookie season. If he maintains this form, we can anticipate his promotion to Formula 1. He might be just 17, but he is an exceptional talent."

In the meantime, Marko assured Yuki Tsunoda that his position alongside Verstappen in the senior team is likely secure at least until the end of 2025.

"Tsunoda has only scored one point in the last three races, which is clearly not satisfactory," the Austrian stated. "However, he requires more time, and he will be given that. We expect him to remain in the car until the season concludes."
