Rosberg: Russell braked to get back at Max

Rosberg: Russell braked to get back at Max

After the finish of the Canadian Grand Prix, I had to wait several hours for the FIA to confirm the results. This was due to Red Bull Racing's protest at George Russell's actions. The stewards rejected the protest, and 2016 champion Nico Rosberg told Sky Sport F1 why Russell did what he did.

Nico Rosberg: "When you're driving behind the safety car and you see Max Verstappen trying to make you nervous by taking up the entire mirror, driving next to you in the place where the mirror is looking. It really annoys you as a racer, it really annoys you. And it was a natural reaction on his part.:"You know what? Take it, [bad man]!" So yes, he decided to hit the brakes to get back at Max.

I would not be surprised to learn that the appeal was filed at Red Bull at the request of Verstappen. Max got angry when George braked and tried to get him fined for overtaking behind a safety car. The cat-and-mouse game continues, and it's good!"
