Norris: Speed in qualifying is our weak spot
Lando Norris has refuted the theory that he made an unsuccessful attempt to attack Oscar Piastri on the starting straight due to the accumulated disappointment caused by the unsuccessful course of the race weekend in Montreal.
Lando Norris: "No, it's not related at all. I don't think we had the pace in qualifying to qualify for pole position. Oscar had to work hard and drive a good lap to achieve third place at the start. In the race, we were faster than expected, which is very positive.
We had a high pace in the race. Maybe our car was the fastest, but it doesn't really matter when the race ends in a collision."
The McLaren driver added that all the team's problems are related to the insufficient speed of the car in qualifying.: "I think it's quite obvious that qualifying is a bigger problem for us this season than racing. The weekend in Canada proved this once again.
Speed in qualifying is not only the weak side of the team, but obviously mine as well. And we have to work on that."
