Formula E: Racers and teams helped clean up the beach

The 12th stage of the Formula E season is taking place this weekend in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, and the first training session has already taken place today, where Max Gunther, a DS Penske racer, showed the best time. But the participants of the World Electric Car Racing Championship were not only engaged in their main business in this country, but some of them also took part in an important environmental action.

Yesterday, together with other employees of Formula E teams, local eco-activists, volunteers and representatives of the race organizers, they went to Pantai Beach in one of the nearby resorts and worked together

Since such an action is taking place for the second year in a row, it can already be considered traditional. The official Formula E website provides the following statistics: in 2024, the participants of the action collected 120 bags of garbage with a total weight of 440 kg. First of all, it's plastic, various kinds of debris and other objects that are washed ashore by ocean surf and wind – in general, the participants of the action are doing a useful job.

It is also reported that the organizers of the Indonesian stage of the championship during the race weekend are taking additional measures to reduce the environmental impact, in particular, special "water stations" have been installed around the track in areas where fans are located, where the public can collect drinking water for free in glasses made of biodegradable materials.

Due to this, there is no need to bring or purchase water in plastic bottles, and the need for this is expected to be high, because temperatures in Jakarta are approaching 30 degrees.
