MadRing construction works are carried out in three shifts
In Madrid, construction works are in full swing in the area of the IFEMA complex, where the MadRing highway will appear in the near future. At their initial stage, which is scheduled to be completed by August 15, about 700,000 cubic meters of soil will have to be moved, and in order to meet these deadlines, the builders are working in three shifts, the Marca newspaper reports.
The following details are given: the promoters of the Madrid race are considering the possibility of using the so-called "red asphalt", to which a special pigment is added. Such asphalt absorbs less heat, and at the same time it is somewhat less abrasive.
The decision has not yet been made, but the organizers, together with specialists, plan to conduct the necessary tests in order to choose the best option for the future coating of the route. Of course, Pirelli tire manufacturers will also be involved in this work, and they will have the last word.
The promoters told the local press about all this on Thursday, informing them in detail about the progress of work and the specifics of the project, including telling about the turn, called La Monumental, where the angle of inclination of the banking will reach 24 degrees. This long 500-meter turn will become something of a symbol of the circuit, its "calling card".
The estimated capacity of the stands and free seating areas is about 125,000 spectators, but this will be the case at the time of the opening of the circuit, i.e. by the autumn of 2026, when it is scheduled to host the first Formula 1 race. In the future, the number of seats can be increased to 155 or even 200 thousand, if there is a corresponding demand.
The promoters assured that ticket prices will be the same as at most European Grand Prix events in Barcelona, i.e. in the best stands it is up to 500 euros, in the rest – in the range of 200 up to 300 euros, and the most affordable – from 80 to 90 euros for three days of the weekend.
In the calendar of the 2026 championship, the MadRing race is scheduled for September 11-13 and is scheduled to take place a week after the stage in Monza.
