The 2016 world champion, Sky Sport F1 expert Nico Rosberg believes that possible negotiations between Max Verstappen and Mercedes may slow down the extension of the contract with George Russell.
Nico Rosberg: "Red Bull does not employ stupid people. They paid Max a fortune and signed a contract for several years. I don't think he can just run away. But you can't force him to stay. If he wants to leave, no one will hold him back – then at some point you will have to put up with it.
On the other hand, there is some hitch with the renewal of the contract with George Russell at Mercedes. Toto Wolff should sign his name now, because Russell is the leader of his team, performing well this season. I can only explain the delay in George's contract by negotiating with Verstappen."
