Christian Horner: We're not even thinking about the championship.
Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner regrets the unfortunate circumstances in Spielberg, where the team failed to score points at the home Grand Prix.
Christian Horner: "An unlucky result. Max started excellently and held a good position. Unfortunately, on turn three, Antonelli lost control of his car and collided with him. Very unfortunate. Of course, Kimi apologized. It is what it is. In terms of car speed, we couldn't argue with McLaren, but we definitely fought with Ferrari. And we could have overtaken George Russell – he didn’t have the pace.
As for Yuki, it was difficult for him to recover after a poor start, and then he was penalized for the incident with Colapinto. That race was also unlucky for him. We are disappointed, but we will quickly switch focus to preparing for Silverstone.
To ensure both drivers can earn points in the future, we need to understand what went wrong with Yuki this weekend. In practice sessions, he looked good, but then the failures began in qualifying. When you're out of your comfort zone, at the back of the peloton where competition is very tight, difficulties can stem from a lack of confidence. But we will work with him and try to help.
Our car has evolved over many years according to the chosen development path. It’s not easy to handle, but it’s not as complicated as often believed. We will work with him and, hopefully, Yuki will improve already at Silverstone.
Right now, we're not even thinking about the championship. We are moving forward race by race and understand that McLaren’s rivals are far ahead."
