Stella: There will be races again when we have to worry.

McLaren's winning double in Austria has become the team's fourth similar achievement this season, but it’s worth mentioning another historic fact. The last time McLaren drivers took the top two spots on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit was nearly 25 years ago: on July 16, 2000, Mika Hakkinen won the race, while David Coulthard finished second.

This time, Lando Norris stepped onto the top of the podium, with Oscar Piastri right beside him – the Austrian Grand Prix marked another stage of the season where McLaren drivers had no rivals. Throughout most of the race, Piastri actively fought with his teammate, leading to some very tense situations for which the Australian had to apologize to the team.

“The on-track battles were intense, but that's what we're here for – racing,” said Andrea Stella after the finish. “The outcome of the race could have been different. Austria has a special track, and if you get the chance to use DRS, you can closely follow the car ahead. That’s exactly what happened during the first stint, as Lando and Oscar maintained nearly the same pace.

They were following each other very closely, and towards the end of the stint, Oscar actually had a couple of chances. There was another opportunity in the middle of the stint, but we’re very happy with how the drivers handled the situation.

After the maneuver Oscar attempted at Turn 4, we advised him to be more cautious, and he acknowledged his mistake. Immediately after the race, he apologized for that move, recognizing it was over the limit. I’m proud of Oscar, because such acknowledgments are not easy for a driver. This is Formula 1, he fought very aggressively, but in the end, everything turned out well.

Of course, we were nervous at times, but we trust Oscar and Lando. Moreover, when you’re in the pit wall, you need to stay calm and analyze what’s happening on the track rationally. We understand that both drivers should have the opportunity to fight for victory if they race like they did this time.

Overall, Formula 1 is an incredible show, and we’re glad we could bring enjoyment to our fans. We hope even more exciting races await us in the future, where we’ll have to nerve again.
