Horner: We lose 90% of our time in two slow turns.

On Friday at Silverstone, Max Verstappen posted the 5th fastest time in the second session, while Yuki Tsunoda was ten places lower. Christian Horner, head of Red Bull Racing, summarized the first day of work on the classic British circuit.

Christian Horner: "So far, our car shows some tendency towards understeering, and we need to address this. We lose about 90% of our time in Turns 6 and 7, while the rest of the lap is more or less normal. However, with long runs, we managed reasonably well – overall, there’s room for improvement, and tonight we’ll try to find the right setup approach.

Getting rid of understeering isn’t easy, but it can be done through setup adjustments. At this stage, we’ve upgraded the RB21’s floor; it’s working as intended, and now the goal is to optimize the balance.

We know how much Max hates understeering, and if we can ensure the front tires of his car stay on the track, I think he’ll be able to deliver quite competitive results."

Horner also spoke highly of Arvid Lindblad’s performance, the 17-year-old driver from Red Bull's youth program, who made his debut in the first practice session behind the wheel of Yuki Tsunoda’s car and finished the session in 14th place.

"In my opinion, Arvid did great. He worked very calmly, gradually increased his pace, made no mistakes, and provided good feedback. His pace was solid, and it seemed that he was almost not stressing, which is always a good sign. However, we must remember that he’s only 17 – overall, it’s clear that we should keep a close eye on his progress," added the Briton team leader.
