Hamilton downplays speculation about a sequel to the F1 movie.
"I wouldn't hurry into anything."
Lewis Hamilton has downplayed early rumors regarding a sequel to the new 'F1' feature film. Millions of fans, industry insiders, and curious moviegoers have viewed the film featuring Brad Pitt, but not everyone is impressed.
"The movie delivers plenty of excitement, yet also a considerable amount of kitsch," noted the Swiss newspaper Blick. "There are some disconcerting scenes. The plot is shallow, clichéd, and foreseeable. For all Formula 1 enthusiasts, the lingering disappointment is that many significant scenes are completely unrealistic."
Despite this, 'F1' has earned nearly $170 million globally and has become Apple Original Films’ most successful theatrical release so far, although it has not yet made back its significant investment. Hamilton’s company, Dawn Apollo Films, played a role in the film's production, with the seven-time world champion contributing to its authenticity.
Speculation about a sequel is already circulating. "I wouldn't rush into anything," the Ferrari driver mentioned at Silverstone. "That would be the worst mistake we could make. Most sequels tend to be much inferior to the original," the 40-year-old remarked to DPA news agency. "After four years of effort, it’s best to let it settle for a while."
Nonetheless, Hamilton did not completely dismiss the possibility that discussions regarding 'F1 2' might already be underway. "If they were, I wouldn’t disclose that," he smiled.
