George Russell: Fifth place is our maximum for today
Before the weekend in Spa, Mercedes was optimistic, but in the sprint and main race, they only scored ten points...
George Russell (5th): "Fifth place is our maximum for today. We were slower than our main rivals. It's frustrating, but that's the reality.
We need to understand why our Spa weekend was unsuccessful. We have some ideas about where exactly we are losing to our competitors, and we will test them next week in Hungary, the last race before the summer break. That will be our main goal in Budapest."
Kimi Anthonelli (16th): "We expected a rain race and adjusted our settings accordingly. In the initial laps, that helped; I overtook a few cars and moved forward. Unfortunately, the track dried quickly, and for the rest of the race, we were slower than our main rivals on the straights.
I was able to stay close to the opponents, but I couldn't make a single overtake. We had to switch to an alternative two-stop strategy, but the outcome was similar – I was stuck behind Esteban Ocon's Haas.
The Spa weekend was difficult, but we have a chance to return to competition in better form next week. We want to go into the summer break on a positive note and are fully focused on that."
