Zak Brown: It's too early to talk about the championship situation.
Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, is pleased with his drivers' successes as they occupy the top two positions in the standings, but he believes it's too early to analyze the championship situation.
Zak Brown: "Due to the weather, the start was delayed, but Oscar drove the first lap absolutely brilliantly, setting the tone for the race. Along with the drivers, we decided to split the tactics, although perhaps we were a bit slow to switch Lando to hard tires. But by the end, our cars were separated by only a small interval, and overall, it was very interesting.
Initially, we had a minor issue with Norris's car battery, and we need to address that – I think that also didn't help him. To what extent the same problem affected Oscar's race still needs to be analyzed, but at the start, there were certain battery-related difficulties.
Indeed, shortly before the finish, Lando made a couple of small mistakes, but it's clear he was pushing to the limit, and there was a hiccup with the front-left wheel during his pit stop, though I don't even know if he could have caught up with his teammate if not for these issues. After all, Oscar drove his best laps towards the end of the race, and it's hard to say what his speed margin was.
It's too early to talk about the championship situation; there are many races ahead, although things are looking good. But Max Verstappen can never be counted out."
