Turkish authorities are working to include the national stage at the Istanbul circuit into the Formula 1 calendar. Local motorsport federation president Eren Uçlertoprağ stated that the track is ready to host a race as early as 2026 if one of the scheduled events does not take place, but the main goal is to hold the Turkish Grand Prix on a permanent basis. "The government is firmly committed to returning Turkey to the Formula 1 calendar by securing a long-term agreement," Uçlertoprağ told the local press. "As is known, the 2026 calendar has already been formed, but if for any reason one race is not held, we can organize the Turkish Grand Prix. However, unlike during the pandemic, we do not want a one-off replacement. We aim to secure a spot in the calendar by signing a long-term contract. We have received significant support and approval from the government. All payments and procedures related to the race will be carried out under state guarantees."
