Lando Norris: Today we have an perfect result!

Lando Norris won the Hungarian Grand Prix and reduced his gap in the championship standings to Oscar Piastri to nine points. This victory marked McLaren's 200th win in history. Thanks to Oscar Piastri's second place, the team achieved a consecutive winning double for the fourth time in a row.

Lando Norris (1st): "I'm dying – it was very tough. We never planned a one-stop strategy, but after such a first lap, it remained the only option to get back into the fight.

On the final stint, Oscar was catching me, and I had to attack with full force. That’s why this reward is especially sweet. Today, we had an perfect result!

I didn’t think we could win. I expected us to finish second. But I knew that if I was alone on the track, I could attack – and that’s what worked. There’s always a risk factor in these races, because you need to avoid mistakes and maintain good lap times to implement the strategy – that’s exactly what we did.

Oscar and I fought with all our might, so it’s hard to say who had the advantage. Fighting Oscar is very tough, but I give him credit – he attacked excellently, and I barely managed to stay ahead."

Oscar Piastri (2nd): "I pushed with all my strength. After I saw that Lando switched to a one-stop strategy, I knew I would have to overtake him on the track, which is easier to say than to do. Choosing a strategy was risky in any case. Today, unfortunately, we chose the wrong side.

The team did an excellent job, and because of that, the car came alive in the second half of the race. The car was superb all weekend – thanks to the team for that.

Lando’s decision to race with a one-stop was not a big surprise, since he was in a situation where he practically had nothing to lose. I don’t know if trying to 'out-brake' Leclerc was the right decision, but we will discuss that later.

To overtake Lando, I needed to force him to make a mistake, and for that, I had to be a few hundredths closer. I felt I had a better chance and attacked – you never delay an attempt for the next lap because you might not get another chance. I tried, but it didn't work."
