The stewards did not fine Max Verstappen.
The stewards of the Hungarian Grand Prix reviewed Max Verstappen's actions in battling Lewis Hamilton for position at turn four, during which the Ferrari driver went off track.
At the hearing, Verstappen explained that he was on fresher tires and had a better exit from turn three, which allowed him to accelerate more strongly than Hamilton, so he decided to use the speed advantage to overtake on the inside of turn four.
Max clarified that he was fully in control of his car and could have left enough space for Hamilton on the exit, but the Ferrari driver had already gone off track himself, and then he [Verstappen] decided to utilize the full width of the track on the exit of turn four.
The Ferrari representative at the hearing confirmed that there was no contact between the cars, and Hamilton himself chose not to attempt to rejoin the track.
Since there was no contact and the stewards did not classify the incident as forcing a competitor off track, no penalties were applied to Max Verstappen.
