Lewis Hamilton brings approximately €70 million to Ferrari.
Ferrari’s sporting results this season leave much to be desired, yet the Italian company’s economic indicators continue to climb. Journalists at Gazzetta dello Sport directly link this to Lewis Hamilton, even though the seven-time world champion has not once stood on the podium in the 14 rounds of the championship held so far.
To begin with official statistics: Ferrari’s net profit for the first half of the year amounted to €873 million, 9% more than in 2024. The Formula 1 team made a significant contribution, too, thanks to cooperation with sponsors, partner contracts and the placement of their companies’ logos on the cars.
In addition, prize money from Liberty Media increased following last year, when the Scuderia finished second in the Constructors’ Championship.
The mere fact that Lewis Hamilton now races for Ferrari is literally worth a lot: the Italian outlet, citing data from the agency StageUp, writes that solely because of this the total amount of sponsorship contracts grew by about €50 million in 2025.
It is worth recalling that the contract with the American company HP Inc., which became the team’s title sponsor, is valued at €80–90 million, and this revenue stream is in no way affected by sporting results. There are also profits from branded and souvenir merchandise that Ferrari sells globally.
If you add all the factors together, as Gazzetta did, Hamilton’s presence in the team brings Ferrari roughly €70 million. Naturally, if Lewis were regularly getting on the podium and winning races, that figure would be noticeably higher. But the Scuderia is profitable in any case, since, experts estimate, his annual fees are around €40 million.
“Growth in revenue from merchandise sales and increased sponsorship income can be explained by Hamilton’s charismatic image,” says Giovanni Palazzi, president of StageUp. “He is not just a driver; he is a living legend of motorsport. His image extends beyond Formula 1 because Lewis appeals to a global audience, building bridges between sport, the world of fashion and pop culture.
His global fame combined with the Ferrari legend became extremely attractive to fans and brands when the contract was announced and again at the start of the season, and all of this resulted in record sales and agreements with world-class partners.
Of course, there is a weak point: if sporting results remain poor, this will affect both the level of enthusiasm and commercial metrics.”
