Bottas/Perez lineup signifies "a bold declaration of commitment"

The Cadillac Formula 1® Team has officially announced the signing of two star drivers – Valtteri Bottas, a 10-time Grand Prix winner, and Sergio “Checo” Pérez, a six-time Grand Prix winner – to spearhead the team as it prepares for its inaugural season in Formula 1® in 2026.

With an unparalleled mix of experience, leadership, and technical skill, Bottas and Pérez are poised to ensure the Cadillac Formula 1® Team makes a strong start as it enters the prestigious racing series. Their combined total exceeds 500 Grand Prix starts and more than 100 podium finishes, along with considerable development knowledge, which will be essential in establishing the team’s competitive base from day one.

"I felt something unique and ambitious when I first spoke with the Cadillac Formula 1® Team," remarked Bottas. "This isn’t simply a racing endeavor; it represents a long-term vision. Few opportunities arise to contribute to a project being built from the ground up and to help shape it into something worthy of the F1® grid.

"I’ve had the privilege of being with some of the world’s top teams, and I can already notice the same level of professionalism and eagerness here. Cadillac is an iconic brand with a rich history in American motorsport, and being part of its narrative as it steps onto the global F1® stage is incredibly special for me. I look forward to embodying the American racing spirit on the world’s greatest circuits. I also want to express my gratitude to Mercedes for their steadfast support and sportsmanship in facilitating this thrilling opportunity."

Pérez stated: "Becoming a member of the Cadillac Formula 1® Team marks an exciting new phase in my career. From our initial discussions, the passion and determination behind this project were evident. It’s a privilege to help build a team that can develop together and eventually compete at the forefront. Cadillac is a legendary name in American motorsport, and I embrace the significant responsibility of bringing such an esteemed company into Formula 1®. I am proud to be involved in such an ambitious and meaningful initiative from the outset. I truly believe that, together with this exceptional lineup, we can evolve this team into a formidable contender, representing the Americas. We’re counting on support from across the continent and aim to make everyone proud."

Supported by TWG Motorsports and General Motors (GM), the Cadillac Formula 1® Team is developing from scratch, fostering a culture rooted in innovation and performance.

The team will operate from three primary motorsport hubs: Fishers, Indiana; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Silverstone, UK, thereby integrating American engineering innovation with European racing expertise.

“Bringing two highly experienced drivers like Bottas and Checo on board sends a bold message of intent,” commented Team Principal Graeme Lowdon. “They have experienced it all and possess the knowledge necessary for success in Formula 1®. More importantly, they grasp what it means to build a team. Their leadership, insights, race-hardened instincts, and speed will be crucial as we establish this team. A sincere thank you to the Mercedes team for their collaboration and understanding.”

Dan Towriss, CEO of the Cadillac Formula 1® Team and TWG Motorsports, a division of TWG Global, highlighted the combination of experience and ambition. “Bottas and Checo embody the perfect fusion of talent, maturity, and drive. They are not just accomplished racers but also builders, collaborators, and professionals who will help define the essence of the Cadillac Formula 1® Team. This announcement signifies more than just a lineup; it marks the start of a remarkable new chapter in American motorsport.”

Cadillac’s entry into Formula 1® signifies a high-performance evolution for one of America’s most iconic and largest automotive brands.

“Our new drivers are a fantastic addition to the Cadillac racing family – each brings a wealth of experience and an unyielding passion for victory,” stated Mark Reuss, President of GM. “Together, we are laying the groundwork for American motorsports, establishing an extraordinary legacy for Cadillac, GM, and the sport.”
