Charles Leclerc: I don't like to count the chances.

On Thursday in Zandvoort Charles Leclerc spoke about the chances of winning the remaining races and the contract extension with Frédéric Vasseur...

Charles Leclerc: "Starting from pole at the Hungaroring, where overtaking is difficult, gave good chances of victory — chances that may no longer be available this year, given McLaren's strength.

Monza? We'd be surprised if we win. But if someone had told me last year that we'd win at Monza, I wouldn't have believed it. We'll see. I don't like to count the odds; I'm more concerned with what we can do as a team to be in the best position to fight McLaren.

The contract extension with Vasseur played an important role. Obviously, when there are rumours in the team about replacing the boss, you try to be completely dispassionate, not to give them any weight and simply not listen to them, but they do have some influence.

It's good that Vasseur got a new contract; it really helped the team. Fred is a great person, he has a very clear idea of what he wants to achieve, and we fully agree with him — and not only us, but the whole team. We're moving in the right direction."
