Alex Albon: The consequences of the incident are not particularly serious.

After Friday's practice sessions the Williams drivers ended up outside the top ten, and Alex Albon was unable to complete the second session. He managed to do about fifteen laps, but at the start of another lap he locked the brakes hard before Turn 1, the car ran off the track and struck the barrier with its front wing.

The damage wasn't limited to a broken wing, as the car rolled back and became firmly stuck in the gravel. However, judging by Alex's comments, he is not inclined to dramatize the consequences of the incident.

Alex Albon (17th): “We had to abort the long run, but the others didn't do that many laps either — mainly because of my off rather than for any other reason. So it's not the end of the world yet, but there's a very strong wind here in general, and its gusts can easily catch you out and make the car lose stability. It happened to me a couple of times during the session, but fortunately the consequences of the incident aren't particularly serious — only the front wing is broken. The car as a whole wasn't damaged.

As for what awaits us tomorrow, I wouldn't mind some rain. However, I think our car is pretty good too, but we'll see how things unfold. Before the second session we made some setup changes, although, to be honest, we didn't have time to understand to what extent they worked because we didn't do many laps. I think Sunday's race will also be held in changeable weather.

We expected Aston Martin to be very quick — it seems that on narrow, twisty tracks like Zandvoort and the Hungaroring their car works very efficiently. But we'll see how they look next week in Monza.

Overall I can say that's the beauty of the midfield rivalry: everyone here has their own strengths and weaknesses.”

Carlos Sainz (16th): “Today's second practice had a somewhat broken rhythm. Every time I tried to do a fast lap, yellow or red flags appeared on track. The car's pace is encouraging, and we also made decent progress with the setup work in the break between sessions, so I'm pleased with the day's results.

Talking about the tasks for Saturday, it feels like we should be able to fight to reach the final segment of qualifying, so we need to try to stay at a good level. To do that we must remain fully focused throughout the weekend.”
