McLaren fined for pit-lane incident

In the second practice of the Dutch Grand Prix there was nearly a collision in the pit lane between Oscar Piastri and George Russell, who was following him. The stewards reviewed the incident and fined the McLaren team.

The decision stated that Piastri “was preparing to turn into the pits, but the entry was blocked by team personnel with the rear jack. At that time another team member indicated to the driver to go around them via the pit lane, which he did, rejoining the fast lane.”

As a result of these manoeuvres George Russell had to brake sharply to avoid a collision. The stewards noted that a dangerous situation had arisen and that, in the event of a collision, team personnel could have been injured.

McLaren should have acted more carefully, and as punishment they were fined five thousand euros.
