Jacques Villeneuve on the Cadillac team's lineup
Recently, Cadillac announced its lineup for the 2026 season, having signed contracts with the experienced Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez. At Zandvoort, the 1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve commented on this news on Sky Sports…
Jacques Villeneuve: “For a new team, the drivers’ experience is indeed important. But experience can cut both ways — it can be positive or negative. And experience doesn’t make a driver fast or great. At Mercedes, Bottas, in the role of Lewis’s teammate, helped the team progress, but a few years later at Sauber he struggled. I think he simply lost motivation. If Bottas is in the same form at Cadillac as he was at Mercedes, it will help the team. And Perez, besides experience, also has the backing of sponsors, which is important too.”
