Alex Albon: I follow my own rules.

Ahead of the Monza race weekend, Alex Albon said he does not fully understand the rules the stewards follow when reviewing controversial incidents on track. The Williams driver added that because of this he relies on his own ideas about what can and cannot be done when fighting rivals.

Alex Albon: "When I'm racing wheel-to-wheel I don't fully understand what I'm allowed to do and what is forbidden. As a result, in a sense I act by my own rules and decide for myself what a fair overtake is and what fair defending is. In my case that approach works.

We can at any time go to the FIA with a question — their door is open, and they are ready to explain their reasoning in any given incident. But I still don't fully understand how one should act in races. And that is confusing.

On Friday at the drivers' briefing we will definitely discuss the incident involving Carlos and Liam. The FIA are open to discussing such issues. They take feedback and don't close themselves off when making controversial decisions — we always discuss them at briefings. I promise you tomorrow's briefing will be long."
