Barrichello and Lammers' sons take steps toward F1.
"I'm thrilled to compete for significant achievements."
Two well-known names are advancing towards Formula 1. Fernando Barrichello, the 19-year-old son of F1 icon Rubens, will make his FIA Formula 3 debut at Monza with AIX Racing before participating in the complete 2026 season. "I'm thrilled to compete for significant achievements," he expressed. Team principal Kenny Kirwan remarked: "We will be putting him in challenging situations, but this experience will be invaluable for his preparation for 2026."
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Rene Lammers, the son of former F1 driver and current Dutch GP director Jan Lammers, has signed with Fernando Alonso’s expanding A14 Management. Jan told De Telegraaf: "My strategy differs from Jos Verstappen’s with Max. I want him to have fun and enjoy the process, but I also want him to understand how far he can go when he pushes himself. He won the first six races of the (Spanish F4) season, which was impressive. However, if you’re not winning, you’re not making progress." When asked if Rene possesses the talent to reach Formula 1, Lammers Sr answered confidently: "Yes!" The five-year agreement with Alonso’s A14 organization places Lammers alongside other young talents including Sauber rookie Gabriel Bortoleto and Sebastian Montoya, son of Juan Pablo.
