Liberty Media executive John Malone did not rule out selling Formula 1 if an offer seemed sufficiently attractive to shareholders.
In 2017 Liberty Media bought Formula 1 from the former owners of the commercial rights for $8 billion. John Malone: "It's a public company. If someone wants to buy it, and is prepared to pay more than the board of directors believes it could offer the shareholders, we'll sell it.
Right now the shareholders are happy. Formula 1 is showing steady growth, generating significant cash flow — it has an exceptionally strong economic structure; it's a powerful brand that needs to be developed in step with the times, further increasing its appeal."
