Ricciardo confirmed his departure from motorsport and a contract with Ford
Former Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo has officially confirmed his retirement from motorsport by publishing a statement saying that he has become an ambassador for Ford Racing.
"Hello to all members of the Ford team around the world! I hope you had a great summer (or winter, if you're Australian), and are looking forward to the rest of 2025.
I want to share some exciting news. Although my racing career is behind me, I will always love anything with wheels, and I'm proud to have become a partner of Ford and a global ambassador for Ford Racing.
Why now and why me? After deciding to retire, I spent a long time thinking about how to stay connected to the world of motorsport. For me, racing has always been fun. It made me happy, and those memories will stay with me for life. I also thought about my connection to Ford. For starters, I bought a Raptor in 2017, even before I had a home in the U.S. Priorities!
Then, soon after Ford announced its partnership with Oracle Red Bull Racing, I went to Dearborn and met with the executives, including James Farley (we had a great time and laughed a lot). I was able to go behind the scenes and see what was happening in your design department, and I was impressed!
Later that same summer I visited the team in Cologne and had a great time meeting staff, watching a crash test, and answering questions. Throughout all of these events, the passion of Ford and its people for motorsport was evident.
But what inspires me most is how all of you keep finding ways to have fun while innovating. Ford has built a full business around motorsport and uses it to bring new technologies into its road cars. And nothing embodies that better than the beloved Raptor.
I'm one of thousands of happy customers. Some of my favorite memories are tied to drives in my Raptor, and I'm looking forward to adding to my Raptor collection, as well as meeting customers who are just as passionate about their vehicles.
I'm very excited about the amazing trips ahead with Ford and all the incredible projects that Ford Racing has in store in the near future. From Formula 1 to Dakar, from Le Mans to Bathurst — few companies have been doing this as long as you have.
