Verstappen downplays Ferrari speculation during Monza.

"If you aspire to drive for Ferrari, your goal must be to win."

Max Verstappen has directly addressed new speculation regarding a potential move to Ferrari in 2027. The future of the four-time world champion became a topic of discussion following comments from his father and co-manager, Jos, who mentioned that Ferrari had entered conversations alongside Mercedes and Red Bull about Verstappen after 2026.

At Monza, Verstappen acknowledged the appeal of Ferrari but emphasized that mere sentiment would not influence his decision. "Ferrari is a prominent brand, and naturally, all drivers fantasize about being there," he stated. "However, that's a mistake—wanting to drive for Ferrari alone isn't enough."

"If you wish to drive for Ferrari, your aim must be to win. If I ever make that move, it won't be merely to drive for Ferrari, but to secure victories. Winning with Ferrari would be even more fulfilling."

He underscored that any potential switch would hinge on competitive factors with the forthcoming new regulations. "You cannot make decisions based solely on emotions and brand loyalty," explained the Red Bull driver. "You need to act if you believe it's the right fit. Will it be the right fit in 2026? I’m uncertain. We'll see. We need to evaluate how everything will unfold with the new regulations—circumstances could change entirely."
