Andrea Stella: The race promises to be very interesting.
On Saturday in Monza not only the dreams of Ferrari fans failed to come true, but McLaren's hopes were also disappointed, as Max Verstappen claimed pole — his first since the July British Grand Prix. But Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will start from 2nd and 3rd positions, and Andrea Stella, the head of the British team leading the championship, has no doubt that tomorrow's race promises to be interesting.
Andrea Stella: "There was very intense competition in qualifying. All 20 cars are comparable in pace, which means the picture could have looked different depending on the quality of the laps the drivers managed to put together. And that in turn to some extent depended on who was able to make use of the slipstream, since on this circuit it can have a very significant effect.
At times the situation was quite tense, for example when Lando used up his first set of tyres in the second session, and to get through to the final he had to deliver a good lap on his second attempt. It was an interesting session, but both Lando and Oscar handled it well, and in the final part of qualifying they were able to find additional speed.
Overall the session's results can be called positive, and in tomorrow's race we will be starting from good positions. Credit must be given to Max Verstappen — throughout qualifying he was ahead of us by about a tenth. He has been quick since the start of the weekend, so he and Red Bull deserve praise, but we will also start the Italian Grand Prix from decent positions. In addition, we must not forget that Ferrari's cars and George Russell are starting behind us. So the race also promises to be very interesting.
The rivalry will be very fierce. At the same time, we do not expect tyre degradation to be too severe, and pace will not be influenced by that factor alone. A number of other variables may also be important in tomorrow's race."
