A disappointing race for Aston Martin
An unlucky weekend in Monza for Aston Martin – Lance Stroll finished last, and Fernando Alonso retired due to a suspension failure…
Lance Stroll (18th): “The race in Monza has always been difficult for us. The long first‑stint strategy allowed us to gain a few positions, but there were problems at the pit stop, and I finished only 18th.
We were hoping for a safety car, which could have helped us score points today, but that didn’t happen. We will analyze this race and prepare for the Baku round.”
Fernando Alonso (retired): “I had a good start, the pit stop worked perfectly – I was aiming for points, but I was forced to retire because of a suspension failure.
At that moment I attacked the kerb in exactly the same way I had all weekend; I think we were just unlucky. It’s a shame we lost a lot of points in the championship, because the weekend had been going quite well until then. Lately we have become more competitive — we’ll see how the end of the season unfolds.”
