Flavio Briatore: Not the best day and not the best result

For Alpine the Italian weekend ended badly – the team scored no points, and both drivers finished a lap down on the winner…

Flavio Briatore, team principal: “Not the best day and not the best result. We knew the circuit didn’t suit our car. With the current car that’s all we have; our main focus is on the 2026 car. We are confident that thanks to the work going on behind the scenes the team has better days ahead.”

Pierre Gasly (16th): “Before the race we decided to change the power unit, I had to start from the pit lane, which made the task even harder on a circuit that doesn’t suit our car.

We tried to stay on the starting set of Hard tyres for as long as possible in the hope of a safety car or red flags at the end of the race, but that didn’t happen.

At the moment it’s difficult to score points with our car. The team is united, everyone gets on well, even in this difficult moment. We will continue to treat each race individually, trying to get the maximum out of the car we have.”

Franco Colapinto (17th): “We knew it would be a tough day. The car lacked pace, we struggled to move forward – the race felt long. I did everything I could, but only finished 17th.

We will analyse everything and try to understand how to do better next time. The goals remain the same: to gain experience, to look for opportunities to get more out of the car, to do everything possible for the team.

We have a free week before the race in Baku; I will be working with the team in Enstone to prepare and to perform better at the next round.”
