Imola is in talks about returning to Formula 1.
In May the Imola circuit hosted the last Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix under the current contract. The event’s promoters had hoped to sign a new agreement, but that did not happen — the published calendar for the 2026 season does not include a round at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari.
However, Imola is not ready to give up hosting the Grand Prix. As PlanertF1 has established, the event’s promoters are negotiating with Formula 1 management about returning to the calendar in the near future on a rotation basis with another European race.
The Spa circuit is being named the most likely candidate to rotate with Imola; its contract runs until 2031 but, after 2027, on a rotation basis. If the parties can reach an agreement, Imola would return to the calendar in 2028 and then again in 2030.
However, at the moment a deal is still far off, since other European circuits are also hoping to hold a Grand Prix on a rotation basis, including Portimão, Hockenheim and Barcelona.
