Oliver Berman: I dream of racing for Ferrari.

Ferrari Young Drivers Academy member Oliver Bearman has been able to realize his dream of Formula 1, and hopes in the future to take the next step and convince the Scuderia's management to include him in Ferrari's main line-up.

Oliver Bearman: "The best thing about Formula 1 is the car. Fantastically fast, with incredible dynamics. Driving it, you feel happy. If in qualifying you fully trust it, then on track you experience special feelings that cannot be put into words or replicated anywhere else. I am very glad and grateful to Ferrari for the opportunity to compete in Formula 1.

I am confident in my abilities, but it's easy to start doubting yourself when things don't go well. It's hard to find the optimal balance, but it's necessary; dissatisfaction with yourself is an important quality for a driver's development. But overall, I am a very self-confident person, and I hope to remain that way.

When the team was working on the car over the summer, I didn't always feel it. When you don't know how the car will react, you start searching and changing your driving style, but when its behaviour normalizes, it's sometimes very difficult to go back. When you don't feel the car, it's really tough. Fortunately, the situation began to improve afterwards. Now I am very optimistic about the end of the season.

In Formula 1 a driver can influence the development of the car; for me this is a new experience compared to Formula 2 and Formula 3. Here the driver's feedback is extremely important. Everything you say directly affects the car's development. It's a difficult task; you need to be confident that you are accurately describing your sensations and directing the team in the right direction. I am glad that I can rely on Esteban Ocon's experience in this — I learn a lot from him.

I quickly found common ground with the engineers and can openly discuss my impressions with them. In this team you won't be judged for criticism. Everyone is focused on progress, and that's great.

I was already very motivated, and having sat behind the wheel of a Ferrari in Jeddah last year, I dream of doing it again. It's what makes me get up in the morning and motivates me in life. One day I'll achieve it! But right now I'm working at Haas, and I really like it. It's a great team, and I'm sure that together we can achieve a lot. I hope to build my future in Formula 1 here."
