Cadillac’s entry into Formula 1 in 2026 will be facilitated by a unique agreement with Ferrari. The team principal of the new squad, Graeme Lowdon, has indicated that the first chassis monocoque is close to undergoing FIA crash testing. However, sources have now confirmed that Ferrari will also lend a recent F1 car to assist the American team in its preparations before their own vehicle is ready.

"If Cadillac arrived at Barcelona testing in January 2026 without ever having started the engine or driven the car, it is very likely they wouldn’t be able to drive at all. That wouldn’t be fair," commented Ferrari's boss, Frederic Vasseur.

"Getting all the systems operational for the first time is extremely complex. When I was at Sauber, we introduced new software in Austin and ended up losing the first practice session due to a malfunction between the garage and the car. That's how intricate it is."

Sources suggest that Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez are expected to participate in a private test at Fiorano in late November, driving a 2023 Ferrari. Cadillac’s entire race team will be involved throughout the activity, simulating a grand prix weekend to familiarize themselves with procedures for 2026, using an actual car at speed. Ferrari will also provide the new entrant with customer power units as part of the deal approved earlier this year.
