Formula 2: Stenshorne and van Hoepen became Trident drivers
Trident confirmed that at the Baku round the team's cars will be driven by Martinius Stenshorne and Laurens van Hoepen. Both competed in Formula 3, but since the season in that series has finished, they have the opportunity to debut in F2.
In F3 the Norwegian Stenshorne, a member of McLaren's junior programme, raced for Hitech and finished 5th in the drivers' standings, scoring two wins and three further podiums; the Dutchman van Hoepen raced for ART, finished the season 12th, but also reached the podium a couple of times. They replaced Max Esterson and Sami Megetunif at the Italian team, whom Trident decided to part ways with three rounds before the end of the season.
Martinius Stenshorne: "I am very proud to be joining Trident Motorsport in Baku for the next F2 round. This is a very exciting opportunity to prove myself, and I can't wait to get to work with the team on this unique and challenging circuit. I intend to give my all and will try to make the most of this new experience."
"I am looking forward to my Formula 2 debut with Trident Motorsport," van Hoepen continued. "It is a fantastic opportunity to move up to the next, higher category and to compete on the impressive Baku circuit, which requires refined driving technique. For me, this will be a valuable experience that I can develop in the future."
