Sainz: We've once again proven that we have speed.

Carlos Sainz will start in Baku from the front row: the Spanish Williams driver posted the second-fastest time today — of course, this is his best qualifying result of the 2025 season. Meanwhile Alex Albon crashed his FW47 already in the first session, having managed to complete only four laps, after which he admitted that it was his own fault.

Carlos Sainz (2nd): "Thanks to everyone who was cheering for me! Honestly, we're very happy — today we had an excellent qualifying. Every time we went out on track we chose the right moment and the right tyres, and I managed to put in a very good lap.

Of course, at the moment when the drivers from the top teams in the fast cars managed to piece together a good lap, we inevitably would have to give up four to five tenths as always, but it turned out that only Max was ahead of us. So I'm not surprised.

And we managed to beat the others, and we posted the second time — that's great news! This year I've often been able to qualify well, and today we again proved that our car has pace. Unfortunately, races don't go the way we'd like, but since the FW47 is a fast car, I can still score points, I'm not worried about that.

The plan for tomorrow is to try to stay ahead and get on the podium. I'll do everything I can to finish in the top three for the first time at the wheel of a Williams car. If it happens — great; if not, we'll see what we can achieve."

Alex Albon (20th): "Let's put it this way: rookies make mistakes like that. I think I was the first to go out on track for the first attempt, so I was the first through Turn 1, and at that moment I had no grip at all, absolutely!

And when on the next lap I was approaching Turn 1 again, the grip was already very good, so I have no one to blame but myself. Honestly, it was a stupid mistake. It's a shame it happened, because we've had a genuinely quick car all weekend.

My car sustained only minor damage — only the suspension pushrod is broken, and the wing was slightly damaged, but they'll fix everything by tomorrow, so what upsets me most is my starting position."
