Max Verstappen comfortably won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix — the weekend unfolded in such a way that no one could prevent him from claiming the 67th victory of his career.
Max Verstappen: "Every win is somehow different from the others, but this weekend came together incredibly well for us. Of course, things were going very well for us in Monza too, but I'm very happy to have won the race in Baku again.
The car worked great today on both tyre compounds, we were running on an open track the whole time, which allowed us to manage tyre wear. Overall, the weekend played out fairly straightforwardly, although it's not easy to drive here, partly because there was a strong wind today that was constantly affecting the car, causing it to move around on the track.
Of course, I'm very pleased with the result. I think you always have to be a bit cautious over the course of a race, and today it was important to execute the one-stop strategy, so everyone was more or less being careful. Especially since we did little work on the tyre compounds used in the race during the earlier days of the weekend. And, of course, I'm glad the safety car only came out once.
It's hard to say whether we'll be able to stay at this level in the remaining races, particularly as Singapore will present a very different challenge, because that track demands high downforce. But we'll see what we can achieve at the next round of the season."
